Dr. Prashant Patel knew what he wanted to achieve with his new office, but that didn’t stop him from seeking and listening to advice. Having outgrown his current space, a bigger lab, more spacious operatories and a better sterilization flow were key concerns to address when designing and outfitting a bigger, more modern space for Fern Creek Dental.
High on Dr. Patel’s list were dedicated spaces: differentiating operatories and hygiene spaces, along with the aforementioned lab and sterilization room. Another priority Dr. Patel kept in mind throughout the building process was the patient experience. He wanted them to feel calm, peaceful – and that his office was “somewhere they wanted to be,” and simultaneously, he wanted to wow them with up-to-date technology.
A happy consequence of adding technologies like CAD/CAM, milling and printing has been huge growth in production and his patient base. Dr. Patel cites same-day crowns as his favorite technology. “Why? Because it gives more benefit.… We can design everything chairside,” he said.
Dr. Patel is also very happy with cone beam and the level of data it provides, saying it’s enabled them to make diagnoses and perform procedures that wouldn’t be possible with traditional X-rays.
Of the service he receives from his Patterson team Dr. Patel says, “Quality, quality and quality.” He appreciated their dedication to his success, the suggestions they made, and that “They always had my back.” Well after construction, he continues to bounce ideas and questions off his CAD/CAM specialist and to rely on the quick responsiveness of his TechEdge team when something needs servicing.
To peers on the fence about investing in technology, Dr. Patel enthusiastically encourages making the leap. “Investing is the key. We have to invest in technology. We have to invest in continuing education … so we can provide better care and service.”
