“A picture is worth a thousand words.” It’s an adage that has almost become a cliché. We say it, we hear it, but does it impact how we choose to communicate? Pictures are quick to understand and easy to remember. Psychologist Jerome Bruner of New York University has described studies that show that people only remember 10% of what they hear, 20% of what they read, but about 80% of what they see and do.

Knowing this, how are you telling your story to your patients? Make sure you are intentional about the images you use to market your services both on and off-line. Ultimately, they carry more weight than even your logo or well-crafted mission statement.

Here’s a tip: consider having team photos taken to display in your reception area. I’ve even seen offices display childhood photos of their team. Talk about adding a level of authenticity and transparency to your practice!

What are some of the fun ways you’ve used the power of imagery with your practice?
